Friday, August 21st

Now that Chester Race Week is behind us, everyone can sit back, relax and go aaaaahhhh!

Our musical entertainment just cancelled.  If you know anyone with an amp and a mike who would like to come and play this Friday, please tell them to stop by.  We pay a nominal fee of $30.00 and all the coinage you can collect while playing.
In the Community Group space we have the Municipality of Chester with a representative to receive comments as part of their Public Engagement Review.

Friday, August 14th

Welcome to Chester Race Week!    This is Canada’s largest keel boat regatta and everything you need to know is found on the website (link above in blue).

It’s going to be a hot, sunny day at the market this Friday and we hope to see you there!  New to the market this week is Broken Ink, screen printers from Chester Basin who have some hats, tees and hoodies printed with Chester images (and other images).  A great souvenir for out of town visitors here for race week.  Also new this week is Jacob Smicer with his Metal Art –  be sure to check out his unique metal work while you visit with all your regular weekly vendors.  With many new vendors during the last few weeks we have had to do some shuffling of vendor spots – changes have been made to our Vendor Layout Diagram.

We would also like to thank Clas Larsson for his musical talent last week and also the Chester Playhouse Summer Theatre School who performed a couple of musical numbers from their play “The Drowsy Chaperone” which is playing this week.

What’s Happening at the Market on Friday, August 7th

A new month is upon us at the Chester Farmers’ & Artisan Market.  August is a busy month for many people and we hope you make shopping at the market part of your August agenda.

This Friday is a kid’s day with student workers from the Chester Recreation Department coming to provide a few games and fun activities for the little ones from 10:30 till 12:30.  They meet over in the grassy area behind the vendors directly across from the Visitor Information Centre’s main door.

For our musical entertainment this week we welcome Clas Larsson, a jazz musician who plays tenor sax and clarinet.  He will be sure to liven up the market as he strolls around playing.  We also have some young performers from the summer theatre program of the Chester Playhouse who are going to sing a couple of songs as a ‘warm-up’ for their August 12th-15th production at the playhouse – what a great way to promote their upcoming event!  We are very excited to have so much musical talent happening this week!!

In our Community Booth we will have Elizabeth and Andrew Corkum, two dedicated volunteers for leukemia and lymphoma, who will be selling apple salsa as a fundraiser and to raise awareness. The apple salsa is amazing so be sure to try a sample and support such a worthy cause.

Musical talent this week is Kathryn Coleman from Chester.  I’ve heard she has a lovely voice so be sure to drop by and give her a listen to!
